These ‘soft lenses’ are provided for a range of different prescription types and eye conditions such as astigmatism (known as toric lenses), hyperopia, myopia and presbyopia.
The main advantage of daily contacts are being able to throw them away at the end of a day’s wear, meaning no hassle in terms of cleaning and caring for the lenses. This is very handy when travelling, or for instance if you suffer from allergies and hay fever, as you’re putting a fresh pair of lenses in each day, which can be much kinder on your eyes.
These again are ‘soft lenses’ and supplied for various conditions as above. Depending on the type of lens, these are worn daily for either one fortnight or one month; your optometrist will be able to advise you on the wearing pattern. Additional solutions need to be purchased with these lenses, as they do need to be taken out in the evenings, cleaned and stored in solutions overnight. Your optometrist again will be able to advise on the solutions compatible with the contact lens type.

These are low maintenance ‘soft lenses’, designed with a very breathable material enabling the wear to continuously wear these lenses day and night for up to 30 days. Not all contact lenses are designed for extended wear, so it is very important to discuss with your optometrist which contacts are suitable for this type of wear.
These are specialist lenses prescribed to either, correct problems such as astigmatism or to slow down childhood myopia, depending on the patient’s prescription.
These lenses are only worn during the night, gently re-shaping the cornea whilst sleeping, aiding clearer vision during the day.
These are rigid ‘hard lenses’ for people less suited to soft lenses. Despite the name hard, they can be a comfortable lens to wear although can require a small period of adjustment when initially using them. They are less popular than soft lenses, but as they are very much tailor made, they are ideal for people suffering with astigmatism, or conditions affecting the shape of the eye such as Keratoconus,
These are a longer lasting lens, made of a more durable material then the soft lenses, and are worn continuously every day for up to six and twelve months at a time, depending on the advice given by the optometrist.
